William Howard "Billy" Eaton, II Obituary


William Howard “Billy” Eaton, II, 56, transcended from this world to meet his Heavenly Father on July 14, 2020 in Waynesboro, MS. Billy was born in Laurel, MS to William Howard Eaton and Virginia Frances Ford. His early childhood was spent in Laurel where he attended Saint John’s Day School. His teen years were spent in Kosciusko, MS where his father became school principal. Billy was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and a faithful and active member of Kosciusko First Baptist Youth and music activities. He was a member of the Big Red drum line in Kosciusko and received a band scholarship for Ole Miss drum line. 


At the young age of 15, Billy began to learn the value of hard work at a grocery store in Kosciusko. During college breaks be would resume work. After college Billy attended the Jackson Police Academy where he was in the top 3 of his graduating class. He began his career with the Booneville Police Department and worked there for ten years. He was the youngest lieutenant on the force, and he loved being among his father’s large family. He began his career with Boonville Police Department for around ten years. He was the youngest Lieutenant on the force and loved living among hos dads’ large family. However, duty called for Billy to move back to his hometown in Laurel to help with his aging grandparents, Hassell and Virginia Ford. He became a member of the Laurel Lions Club. He joined McAlister’s Restaurant and became the General Manger. He helped with the hiring and training of new employees. 


Unfortunately, at the age of 36 his childhood genic bone disease returned with a vengeance and soon he became disabled as the years past. Yet, when family called, he came to Waynesboro for around the next ten years helping take care of his stepfather, James L. Walker until his death. Shortly thereafter he became a patient at Pine View Healthcare Center. While making numerous visits to Wayne General Hospital where God finally after years of pain and suffering called his Christian Servant home to Heaven.


Billy is preceded in death by his beloved father, William Howard Eaton, Sr.; stepfather, James L. Walker; maternal grandfather, Hassell Ford; maternal grandmother, Virginia Gray Ford; paternal grandfather, R. Flake Eaton; paternal grandmother, Lois Padget Eaton. He is survived by his loving mother, Virginia "Ginger" Walker, Waynesboro, MS; sister, Ginny Eaton Bates (Richard), Laurel, MS; 2 nephews, Camryn Bates, William Bates both of Laurel, MS; niece, Callie Bates, Laurel, MS; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins on his father’s side of the family. Graveside Service for Billy will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 17, 2020 at Crestview Cemetery in Laurel, MS with Dr. Steve Smith and Rev. Richard Bates officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery in Laurel, MS. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made the Waynesboro First Baptist Building Fund and Samaritans Purse.
