Mr. Thomas Tate, 79, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home. He was born in Millry, AL on Wednesday, April 15, 1942 to William Clayton Tate and Florrie Tate. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was the founding member and singer for Thomas Tate and Countian Bluegrass for many years. He was a member of the Mississippi Bluegrass Association. Countian Bluegrass represented Mississippi at The World’s Fair in New Orleans in 1984. He was also a professional wrestler for several years. He worked for Northern Electric for over 20 years. He retired from Solar Group as a Shipping Supervisor. Mr. Tate is preceded in death by his father, William Clayton Tate; mother, Florrie Tate; two brothers, James Tate, Leonard Tate; two sisters, Florine Tate, Lois McCary; son-in-law, Samuel McCarty. He is survived by his wife, Sue Tate; daughter, Theresa McCarty, both of Waynesboro, MS; three sisters, Rosalee Peterson, Louise Ford, both of Millry, AL, Lora Mitchell, Frankville, AL; grandchild, Chelsea Bedwell (Chase), Waynesboro, MS; great grandchild, Landree Bedwell. Visitation for Mr. Tate will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Burkes and Dr. Dave Moran officiating. Interment will be in Arrington Cemetery.
