Sonja Ruth Dyess

Mrs. Sonja Ruth Dyess, 81, of Millry, AL passed from this life Monday, June 28, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Millry, AL on Wednesday, February 7, 1940 to Vance Delmer Kirkland and Doshie Kirkland. She was a member of Progress Assembly of God Church. She had worked at Northern Electric Company. Mrs. Dyess is preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Dyess; father, Vance Delmer Kirkland; mother, Doshie Kirkland; brother, Vance Delmer "Sonny" Kirkland; sister, Sylvia "Kitty" Guy. She is survived by her three sons, Douglas Dyess, Dale Dyess, Darwin Dyess (Melinda), all of Millry, AL; two daughters, Brenda Dyess Tesnow, Columbus, OH, Barbara Dyess Mims, Millry, AL; two brothers, Moses William Kirkland (Betty Sue), Curtis Wayne Kirkland (Shirley), both of Millry, AL; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Sonja Ruth will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church, Millry, AL. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, July 2, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Koen officiating. Interment will be in Antioch Cemetery.
