Rev. Hugh Holder-Cummings, 76, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Thursday, April 7, 2022, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born in Ocean Springs, MS on Saturday, December 15, 1945, to Rev. W. G. Cummings and Mary Shepherd Cummings. He was a United Methodist Minister for the United Methodist Conference for 38 years. He was the epitome of a servant for Christ, he asked for nothing in return and wanted those he was around and helped to see Christ and His goodness. He loved his wife and adored her, their children, and grandchildren. Rev. Hugh was a wonderful “Daddy”, “Papa” and “Papaw”, he was a teacher and passed on every piece of knowledge he could to his children and grandchildren. He loved nature and animals, taking his wife to any fishing hole they could find, and loved sitting on the porch swing, bird watching. He has been healed and looking down on each of us. He will be remembered and loved until one day we join him in his healing. He lived his life with the verse, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless God’s Holy Name.” -Psalm 103:1. Rev. Hugh is preceded in death by his father, Rev. W. G. Cummings; mother, Mary Shepherd Cummings; three brothers, W. A. Cummings, Billy Cummings, Dwight Cummings. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 Years, Rev. Dixie R. Holder-Cummings, Waynesboro, MS; two sons, Travis Frank Cummings (Amy), Plain, WA, Hugh Andrew Miller (Kari), Waynesboro, MS; daughter, Elizabeth Irene Allen (Jeremy), Columbia, MS; two sisters, Dorothy Phelps (Lloyd), Grand Bay, AL, Doris Furby (Eddie), Biloxi, MS; eight grandchildren, Simon Cummings, Rhetta Cummings, Kayleigh Allen, Wyatt Allen, William Miller, Edith Allen, Rowan Allen, Aiden Miller; raised like a son, Le’Kilo White (Shania), Waynesboro, MS. A Graveside Service for Rev. Hugh will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2022, at Hebron Cemetery in Wayne County, MS with Rev. Charlie Laird and Rev. Cynthia Cross officiating.
