Mervin G. Coxwell

Mr. Mervin G. Coxwell, 87, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home in Waynesboro, MS. He was born in Wayne County, MS on Thursday, January 9, 1936 to Daniel Hezekiah Coxwell and Trinnie Coxwell. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. He had worked as a Comptroller at Freeman Funeral Home and Freeman Insurance Agency for 59 years. Although Alzheimer's Disease changed him and robbed him of so many memories and activities, some things remained the same. Mervin will be remembered as a fine Christian man who loved his family, friends, but most of all, his Jesus. Mr. Coxwell is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Hezekiah Coxwell; mother, Trinnie Coxwell; two brothers, Thomas H. Coxwell, Elton Coxwell; two sisters, Eula Mae Palmer, Marilyn Stough. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Coxwell, Waynesboro, MS; two daughters, Beverly McCoy (Kyle), Waynesboro, MS, Gina Yarbrough (Wayne), Lucedale, MS; brother, Norris Coxwell, Waynesboro, MS; granddaughter, Peyton Langston, Nampa, ID; two step grandchildren, Morgan Cherry (Austin), Taylor Fraser (Brandon), all of Waynesboro, MS; step great grandson, Leo Delaney; special caregivers, Brenda Beard and Gail Leverette. Visitation for Mr. Coxwell will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
