Harold Ray "Pip" Tew, Sr.

Mr. Harold Ray "Pip" Tew, Sr., 76, of Millry, AL passed from this life Sunday, April 5, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Monday, May 24, 1943 to George O. Tew, Sr. and Vernelle Britton Tew. He was an active and dedicated member of Liberty Baptist Church in Waynesboro, MS. He was retired from Georgia-Pacific as a machinist. "Pip" will be remembered by his family as a Godly, caring, understanding, compassionate, and loving man. He loved his grandchildren and always tried to be as active as he possibly could in everything, they were involved in. Many can still remember hearing Mr. Harold's voice as it echoed across Wildcat Hill on Friday nights as the football announcer at Millry High School. After retirement Mr. Tew enjoyed gardening and giving most of what he grew away to the widows and elders of the community. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Mr. Tew is preceded in death by his father, George O. Tew, Sr.; mother, Vernelle Britton Tew; son, Harold Ray "Ruben" Tew, Jr.; 5 brothers, Prentice A. Tew, Clatis G. Tew, George O. Tew, Jr., William M. Tew, Jimmy L. Tew; 2 sisters, Maxine T. Brown, Juanita Tew. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Dianne M. Tew of Millry, AL; 2 daughters, Stacy T. Shirley (Ed) of Waynesboro, MS, Lora R. West, Millry of AL; 2 brothers, Delmer W. Tew (Shirley), Walter C. "Tee" Tew (Peggy) both of Millry, AL; 2 sisters, Pearl Gant, Faye Hester both of, Millry, AL; 8 grandchildren, Dustin Davis, Leeann West (Chris Engle), Alexsis West (Jerry Dunn), Skyann West, Tripper West, Drew West, Paige Dickey (Kyle), Adam Shirley (Sarah); 3 great grandchildren, Hunter West, Bradley Shirley, Kaden Dickey; a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside Service for Mr. Tew will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2020 at Kimbrough Cemetery in Millry, AL with Rev. J. Scotty Hogan, Rev. James McLain, and Rev. Randy McLeod officiating. Interment will be in Kimbrough Cemetery in Millry, AL.
