George Roy Burnett, Jr.

Mr. George Roy Burnett, Jr., 84, of Aquilla, AL passed from this life Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born in Egypt, MS on Saturday, April 21, 1934 to George Roy Burnett, Sr. and Anne Maxey Burnett. Mr. Burnett served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Aquilla United Methodist Church. After working for many years with several railroad companies he retired as a supervisor with the Kansas City Southern Railroad Company. Mr. Burnett is preceded in death by his mother, Anne Maxey Burnett; father, George Roy Burnett, Sr.; brother, Richard Burnett; 3 sisters, JoAnn Landry, Beverly Browne, Gabie Montalbano. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patsy A. Burnett, Aquilla, AL; 3 daughters, Debra Dailey (David), Chicora, MS, Dawn Dailey (Ricky), Lucedale, MS, Sharlyn Burnett, Marbury, AL; 3 brothers, Donald Burnett (Merrie), Prattville, AL, Daniel Burnett, Buckatunna, MS, William Burnett (Pat), Prattville, AL; sister, Patricia Mehrtens (John), Jefferson, LA; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Dailey (Becca), Charlotte, NC, Kylie Dailey, Lucedale, MS, Jonathan Dailey (Amber), Chicora, MS, Joshua Dailey, Chicora, MS; 2 great grandchildren, Jaythan Dailey, Chicora, MS, Annaleigh Dailey, Chicora, MS; a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Burnett will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Michael Gunn and Rev. James Murphy officiating. Interment will be in Aquilla Cemetery in Aquilla, AL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Aquilla Cemetery fund.
