Mrs. Dorotha Jean Beck Turner Hollinghead, 90, of Waynesboro, MS went to be with The Lord Wednesday, June 10, 2020. She was born in Winter Haven, FL on Friday, April 18, 1930 to C. O. Beck and Mae Beck. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. She worked as a Manager at Beck Motel & Restaurant. She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1948 and then from Ole Miss in 1952 with a degree in physical education. Mrs. Jean taught Wayne County kids (and many adults) to swim for over 40 years. She also volunteered for two years as the Girls Basketball coach at Wayne Academy when it was organized in the early 1970s. Mrs. Jean is preceded in death by her father, C. O. Beck; mother, Mae Beck; first husband, Jex Johnston Turner; second husband, Calvin Elton Hollinghead; great grandson, Miles Murphree Barnes. Survivors include her children, Donna Barnes (Blake), Oxford, MS; Steve Turner (Kaye), Waynesboro, MS; Kim Hollinghead, Waynesboro, MS; Tim Hollinghead, Waynesboro, MS; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mrs. Jean’s Special Caretaker Ann Larson for the four years she spent taking care of Mrs. Jean by driving her to Bridge games and hair appointments. Visitation for Mrs. Jean will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
