Betty Jane Gardner

Mrs. Betty Jane Gardner, 89, of State Line, MS passed from this life Friday, April 9, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Mississippi on Thursday, November 5, 1931 to Walter Smith and Maggie Smith. She was a member of Eret Baptist Church. Mrs. Gardner is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy "Jiggs" Gardner; two daughters, Opal Cartwright, Linda Strickland; father, Walter Smith; mother, Maggie Smith; grandson, Jamie Gardner; great granddaughter, Alyssa Gardner; two sisters, Alice Smith, Dorothy Trimble; three brothers, Mack Smith, Paul Smith, George Smith. She is survived by her two daughters, Sara Strickland, Helen Iddings (Johnny) both of State Line, MS; three sons, Dale Gardner (Debbie), Millry, AL, Jimmy Gardner (Patricia), Calvin Gardner (Beverly) both of State Line, MS; two brothers, Walter Smith, Jr., Semmes, AL, Raymond Smith, Chatom, AL; two sisters, Louise Loper, Chatom, AL, Bernice Hogan, State Line, MS; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Gardner will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Eret Cemetery in State Line, MS with Rev. Shane Giles officiating. Interment will be in Eret Cemetery in State Line, MS.
