James V. Parnell

Mr. James V. Parnell, 80, of Shubuta, MS passed from this life Friday, March 22, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Leakesville, MS on Monday, June 27, 1938 to Oscar Clarence Parnell and Ethel Raybelle Parnell. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He worked as a Tugboat Captain for 55 years. Mr. Parnell is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Raybelle Parnell; father Oscar Clarence Parnell; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Parnell. He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtice C. Parnell, Shubuta, MS; 2 sons - James Rex Parnell (Sherrie), Shubuta, MS, David V. Parnell (Melissa), Moss Point, MS; 2 daughters, Rose Minchew (Isaac), Pat Richardson (Dwight) both of Shubuta, MS; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Parnell will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, March 25, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Ellis Wayand and Rev. Levi Burnham officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shubuta, MS.
