Ivol Harris McAdams Obituary

    Mrs. Ivol Harris McAdams, 101, of Waynesboro, MS, passed from this life Saturday, November 2, 2019 at her daughter's residence in Richland, MS. She was born in Cullman, AL on Sunday, October 20, 1918 to John Bunyan Harris, Sr. and Samantha Angeline Holmes Harris.

    Mrs. Ivol was a member of Community Southern Methodist Church and had worked for many years as a Bookkeeper. She was proud to serve with the volunteer ladies at Wayne General Hospital known as the “Pink Ladies”. She enjoyed the fellowship with the Golden Opportunity group at First Methodist Church. She served on the County Fair Board until age 97. 

    She was dedicated to serving along beside “ Bro Mac” when he became a lay minister with the Southern Methodist Church Conference. Her particular interest was in Missions and Youth work. She held many leadership positions on the conference level as well as her local churches. 

    We give thanks for her life, her witness, and her example. Because we have known and loved her, we praise the Lord of life, death, and life anew.

     Mrs. Ivol is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Decell McAdams; father, John Bunyan Harris, Sr. and mother, Samantha Angeline Holmes Harris; son-in-law, Roy Ainsworth; sister, Florine Robinson; half-brother, Brampton Harris; half-sister, Madge Hyatt; grandson-in-law, Jim Swords; and her beloved dog, Sport. She is survived by her son, Alan McAdams (Gloria), Benton, MS; 2 daughters, Gaynell Ainsworth, Richland, MS, Angie Mauney (Steve), Savannah, TN; brother, John B. Harris, Jr. (Peggy), Tampa, FL; 7 grandchildren, Christy Johnson (Glover), Bethany Ainsworth, Dory Wallace (Russ), Jeff McAdams (Kari), Jessica Schwab (Tim), Derrick Mauney, Ashley Woods (Scott); 8 great-grandchildren, Samantha Swords, Jacob Swords, Julia Swords, Walker Clayton, Menley Clayton, Paul Brady Schwab, Jack McAdams, Madi McAdams. Mrs. Ivol also was blessed with the lifelong friendship of three very special people- Hilda Newsome, M. L. Clanton, and the late Wilodyne Rhinehart.

    Visitation for Mrs. Ivol will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 4, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pink Ladies Scholarship Fund.
