Mrs. Helen Strickland Clark, 86, of Wayne County MS passed away on November 19, 2018 surrounded by family and loved ones in Houma LA. Mrs. Helen was born on September 18, 1932 and was raised by her parents, Leonard and Ada Strickland in Waynesboro MS. In 1950, she married William Ozell Clark “Ozell” and lived in many places, finally settling in Houma LA over 50 years ago. In addition to caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mrs. Clark enjoyed many hobbies such as canning vegetables, fishing, bird-watching, painting, sewing/embroidery, reading, word-search puzzles, visiting & talking with family. She was a fan and collector of Thomas Kincaid. She enjoyed traveling to Mississippi to care for her camp, cabin, and cottage. She was known for always working in her yard (in matching outfit with hair and make-up).
Mrs. Clark is survived by her children: Thomas George “Tommy”, William Edward “Eddie” and wife Aggie, Merlin John “Johnny” and wife Melanie, Vickie “Darlene” Clark Naquin and husband Jamie all of Houma LA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 21, soon to be 22 great-grandchildren, cousins Barbara Rockwell and Dottie Smith and sister-in-law Ruth Clark. Mrs. Helen is preceded in death by her husband Ozell Clark, sister Bertile “Pete” Merril, brother Huey P. Strickland, grandson William Edward Clark Jr. “Will” and great granddaughter Kaitlynn Renee Bergeron.
Visitation for Mrs Clark will be held 5-7 PM Friday, November 23, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro MS. Funeral Services to be held at 10 AM Saturday, November 24 at Freeman Funeral Home. Interment will be in White House Cemetery.
