Cecil Boyles

Mr. Cecil Boyles was born on November 27, 1933, in Wayne County, Mississippi to the late Hardy and Easter Boyles.  He departed this life on March 10, 2019, at the age of 85 at Forrest General Hospital.  Mr. Boyles was married to Jimmie Rea Dew Boyles on February 20, 1954, and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.  He worked as an independent oilfield pumper for 43 years.  He was a deacon and member of Grace Baptist Church in Jones County.

Throughout his lifetime, he served the community as a Justice Court Judge of Wayne County, represented Beat Four on the Wayne County School Board, and served as a board member and president of the Whistler Water Association.

Mr. Boyles was active in the Magnolia State Bluegrass Association and hosted the organization’s annual festival each summer for many years.  His “Pickin’ House” was a local gathering place for bluegrass and county music lovers from the early 1980s until the early 2000s.  Mr. Boyles was an avid coon, deer, and turkey hunter.  He also enjoyed competing in horse shows throughout the 1960s and early 70’s with his son.
 

Mr. Boyles is survived by his wife Jimmie Rea Boyles, Waynesboro, MS; his son and daughter-in-law Michael and NitaWaynesboro, MS;  two grandchildren Zachary Boyles (Sarah), Montgomery, TX, and Megan Boyles Roberts (Adam), Waynesboro, MS;  one great-grandson Connor Boyles, Montgomery, TX; brother Dennis Boyles, Waynesboro, MS;  sister Betty Lou Modlin, Ocean Springs, MS; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers H.D. Boyles and J.D. Boyles; sisters Aree Boyles, Jerolene Boyles, and Bonnie Hendry.
 

Visitation for Mr. Boyles will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 15, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Hodge officiating. Interment will be in Boyles Chapel Cemetery.
