Mr. Rufus E. Landrum, 77, of Richton, MS (Wayne County) passed from this life Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Waynesboro on Saturday, December 25, 1943 to Rufus Landrum and Eola Landrum. He was a member of Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. He retired from the lumber industry as an Electrician Project Manager. He is perhaps best known for his 18 years of service as Wayne County Fire Chief/Coordinator and his involvement with Wayne General EMS. Mr. Rufus was highly respected in the community for the dedicated manner in which he held his position. He was always willing to assist in any capacity he was needed. Mr. Rufus is preceded in death by his father, Rufus Landrum; mother, Eola Landrum. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years who was always by his side, Rebecca Landrum, Richton, MS; son, Rufus E. "Dicky" Landrum, Jr. (Pamela), Richton, MS; daughter, Lisa Ann Cunningham (Eric), Saltillo, MS; sister, Betty Faye Gainey (Harry), Richton, MS; five grandchildren, Matthew Rufus Landrum, Kimberly Renee Landrum, Darren Walley, Kelby Walley, Torrie Walley; great grandchild, Randy Joseph Walley; K-9 Service Dog, Bandit. Visitation for Mr. Rufus will be held from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church, Richton, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Aubrey Cook, Rev. Shot Stinson, and Rev. Jerry Overstreet officiating. Interment will be in Mulberry Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jonathan Gainey, Rodney Landrum, Jay Landrum, Charles Scarbrough, Phillip Brewer, Richard Smith, Darren Walley, Kelby Walley, Matthew Landrum. Honorary Pallbearers are all members of the entire Wayne County Volunteer Fire Department.
