A Graveside Service was held for Rita Finley Daniels, 88, of Waller Ridge at Waller Ridge Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 9,2020. A longtime resident of Waller Ridge, she passed away on October 7, 2020 at her home.
She was a beloved member of the community, known for her devotion to abandoned dogs and cats. Dozens of cast-off pets lived out their lives in her loving care over the many years she lived there.
Rita was an avid gardener and her “green thumb” nurtured flowers, trees, and plants from Azaleas to Zinnias in her spacious yard. She delighted in growing many varieties of vegetables in gardens around her yard and sharing them with friends and neighbors.
Rita also loved to cook and host family reunions. Her annual joy was helping organize, decorate, and cook for the Waller Ridge Church/Bodie Reunion held of the fourth Sunday of May.
She attended New Hope United Methodist Church and also enjoyed being in the Dorcas Club with her late Sister-In-Law Ruth Finley at Clear Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons and their respective spouses, Robert Kerry and Penny, Dale and Angela; a grandson, Rob; and granddaughter, Leslie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl; grandson, Greg; her brother and Sister-In-Law, Ranny and Ruth Finley.
Freeman Funeral Home handled the arrangements, and an online guestbook can be signed at www.freemanfh.com .
