Patsy Ruth (Jones) Pitre

   Mrs. Patsy Ruth Jones Pitre, 81, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at her residence with her companion John Paul.

   Patsy was born in Wayne County, MS on Sunday, September 13, 1942 to the late Joseph Wesley and Selma Norsworthy Jones of State Line, MS. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Orville; sisters, Betty (Clifford) Hough, Edna Earl (Max) Sims, Shelby (Harrol) Gill, Linda (Herb) Mosley; husband, Len Pitre.

   In 1959, she graduated from Clara High School, where she was a member of the girls’ basketball team and varsity Cheerleader. After high school she attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where she received a master’s degree in library science, which enabled her to return to her alma mater in Clara, where she taught for many years, serving as sponsor for Beta Club, yearbook, and the cheerleading squad. During the summers, Patsy taught library science as an adjunct professor at the University of Southern Mississippi and pursued her love of photography which developed into a new profession for her resulting in her opening her photography studio, Four Seasons in Waynesboro, MS. When she closed her studio, Patsy returned to the education system by accepting a librarian opening with the Heidelberg School System.

   Patsy is survived by her loving companion and caregiver, John Paul; brothers, Duane (Glenda) Jones and Joey Jones, all of Huntington, TX; sisters-in-law, Lenette Pitre of Cut Off, LA, Ethel Jones of Bay Springs, MS; daughter-in-law, Angie Pitre of Galliano, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and nephews.

  Visitation for Patsy will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday, May 24, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Galliano, LA on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
