Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Langley, 85, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Friday, April 28, 2023 at Southern Living Specialty Care Residency in Waynesboro, MS. She was born in Chicora, MS on Thursday, February 3, 1938 to Edward and Willie Jones. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. Of Mrs. Langley’s many accomplishments, one of her proudest moments was when she received her Certificate of Proficiency of the Grand Chapter of the State of Mississippi, Order of the Eastern Star. From 1969 to 1980 she was the Deputy Clerk for the Tax Collector/Assessor of Wayne County. In 1980 she was elected tax assessor and collector of Wayne County where she served until her retirement in 1996. While in office she received many certificates of recognition, one of them being A Commendation by Governor Kirk Fordice. She was a loving wife for 61 years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the light of her family who she loved fiercely and adoringly. She was the essence of a genteel southern lady. Mrs. Langley is preceded in death by her husband, Carter Latrell Langley; parents, Edward and Willie Jones; brother, Frank Jones; two sisters, Christine Peterson, Bobbie Stanard. She is survived by her son, Bruce Langley (Brenda) of Waynesboro, MS; daughter, Lisa Brown Windham (Greg) of Sharon, MS; three brothers, Grant Jones, Jimmy Jones (Lou Ella), Billy Jones (Barbara); two sisters, Etta Lee Gordon, Cecile Walley; Sister-In-Law, Grady Sue Jones; three grandchildren, Jason Langley, Patric Langley, Lacy Brown (Kristen); three step grandchildren, Michael Brown (Andrea), Kathryn Brown, Jessica Vanderford (Phil); 3 step great grandchildren; best friend, Sundial Evans Knight. Visitation for Mrs. Langley will be held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday, May 1, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 1, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Steve Smith and Rev. David Roberson officiating. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
