Mr. Norman Jessie "Sonny" Bishop, 87, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Waynesboro on Wednesday, March 16, 1932 to John S. Bishop and Willie Mae Bishop. He was a member of Philadelphus Presbyterian Church. Mr. Norman served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. During his service he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal along with many other decorations. He worked as a Tool & Die at Hanson Scales. Mr. Bishop is preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Odom Bishop; father, John S. Bishop; mother, Willie Mae Bishop; 4 brothers, Fletcher Bishop, Louie Bishop, John Bishop, George Bishop; 2 sisters, Christine Cullinane, Annie Margaret Retting. He is survived by his daughter, Teri Crow (Howard), Semmes, AL; son, Chris Bishop, Waynesboro, MS; brother, Sammy Bishop, Waynesboro, MS; 3 grandchildren, Aaron Hall (Lisa), Tyler Hall, Shaun Hall (Stephanie); 3 great-grandchildren, Ava Hall, Taylen Hall, Blakeleigh Hall. Visitation for Mr. Bishop will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Tamber Proctor officiating. Interment will be in Hebron Cemetery in Wayne County, MS. Pallbearers are Aaron Hall, Tyler Hall, Shaun Hall, Daniel Bishop, Tom Bishop, Destin Morris.
