Mary L. (Woodyard) Smith

Mrs. Mary L. Smith, 88, of Leakesville, MS passed from this life Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Sparrow Hills in Lucedale, MS. She was born in Leroy, AL on Saturday, July 27, 1935, to the late Jack and Rachel Woodyard. She was a member of Providence Church in State Line, MS. She retired as a secretary at S & S Timber, Inc. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Rachel Woodyard; son, Johnny Smith; three brothers, Benny Woodyard, George Woodyard, Rudolph Woodyard; sister, Barbara Roberts; two great grandchildren, Stash Phillips, Brylee Ethridge. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Phillip Smith of Leakesville, MS; son, Eric Smith (Shaunda) of State Line, MS; daughter, Phyllis Smith Hearn of Saraland, AL; three brothers, Raymond Woodyard, John Woodyard, both of Leroy, AL, Steve Woodyard of Jackson, AL; 12 grandchildren, April Denmark, Rachel Odell, Sheena Harvison, Skyler Willers, Summer Smith, Shane Smith, Jason Kittrell, Amanda Breland, Johnny Seabrook, Taylor Lundy, Hannah Hearn, and Jackson Hearn; a host of great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday, October 30, 2023, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 30, 2023, at Providence Cemetery in State Line, MS with Rev. Jimmie Butts officiating. Interment will be in Providence Cemetery in State Line, MS.
