Mrs. June Bird Jackson, 93, of Silas, AL passed from this life Thursday, February 18, 2021 at her residence. She was born on Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne, AL on Friday, March 11, 1927 to Bill and Jean Robinson Bird. She was the middle daughter of six children. As the middle child, June was the caretaker.
The Bird Family moved to Isney in 1939 and became part of the community. She married Marvin Jackson in August of 1947. With no children, they took on the care of nieces and nephews. June was a member of Isney Baptist Church and served as Church Clerk for 28 years. She worked as a Bookkeeper and an Accountant at various places, but her last job was with Robert Dyess Trucking.
June enjoyed retirement, mowing grass, and keeping her yard up. She loved all her friends and family, but she was thrilled when Paxton Downing chose to call her Maw Maw.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Jackson; father, Bill Bird; mother, Jean Robinson Bird; two sisters, Annie Bird Womack, Fern Bird Swann; three brothers, Olin Bird, Willard Bird, Paul Bird; three nephews, Roy Womack, Mack Womack, Dale Skinner. She is survived by four nieces, Barbara Naquin (Ernest), Jean Lofton, Linda Skinner, Betty Womack; two nephews, Richard Bird (Saundra), Robert Swann (Cathy); a host of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for June will be held from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Isney Baptist Church in Silas, AL. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Isney Baptist Church with Rev. David Roberson and Robert Swann officiating. Interment will be in Isney Cemetery. Masks and Social Distancing are required of those in attendance.
