Joe Hance Cooley

Mr. Joe Hance Cooley, 87, of Buckatunna, MS passed from this life Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Wayne County, MS on Sunday, February 12, 1933 to Joe C. Cooley and Hattie Riley Cooley. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Mr. Cooley attended Mississippi State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Education. He worked as a Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Buckatunna High School for 28 years. He has been a part of Abundant Life Church for over 24 years. Mr. Cooley is preceded in death by his father, Joe C. Cooley; mother, Hattie Riley Cooley; brother, Tommy Haskel Cooley. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mable Cooley, Buckatunna, MS; 3 sons, Tommy Joe Cooley, Clara, MS, James Keith Cooley, Sr., Waynesboro, MS, Kenneth Cooley (Cathy), Petal, MS; 6 grandchildren, Crystal Lynn Cooley Frasier, Stormi Dale Rose Cooley, Cody Joe Cooley, Lacy Abigale Cooley, Fonda Haley Cooley, Jaye Cooley; 3 great grandchildren, Drake Frasier, Grant Frasier, Reverie Jett Williams. Visitation for Mr. Cooley will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Abundant Life Church, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Abundant Life Church in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Andy Olson and Rev. James Murphy officiating. Interment will be in Buckatunna Cemetery in Buckatunna, MS. Masks and social distancing are required of those in attendance.
