Mr. James Marion Setzler, Jr., 70, of Waynesboro, MS passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Laurel, MS after a brief illness. He was born in Jackson, MS on Monday, January 1, 1951 to James Marion Setzler, Sr. and Stella Mae (Johnson) Setzler of Byram, MS.
Mr. Setzler graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University. He spent over 45 years associated with the U. S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center Torpedo Division of Newport, RI.
Before moving back to Mississippi, Mr. Setzler was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Greenwich, RI. He took great pride in serving his church in several lay positions.
Mr. Setzler is survived by one son, Douglas Marshall Setzler (Amy), Ogden, UT; one grandson, Henry Louis Setzler; two brothers, Jim Robert Setzler (Connie), Huntington Beach, CA, Dr. Roger M. Setzler (Janice), Mobile, AL; two sisters, Deborah Henry, Pelahatchie, MS, Elizabeth Spooner (Mike), Madison, MS; several nieces and nephews; several close friends.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Setzler was held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Steve Smith officiating.
