Barbara Jean (Butler) Green

   Mrs. Barbara Jean (Butler) Green, 87, of Shubuta, MS passed from this life Sunday, October 22, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Wayne County, MS on Saturday, October 17, 1936, to the late Foston and Goldie Olivia Butler. She was a member of Shubuta Baptist Church, where she loved singing with the choir. She retired as a rural postal carrier for the United States Postal Service. She played guitar, was an avid bluegrass music lover, and enjoyed painting. She was loved by her family and community.

   Mrs. Green is preceded in death by her husband, David Richard Green; parents, Foston and Goldie Olivia Butler. She is survived by her son, Dan Green (Becky) of Northport, AL; sister, Charlotte Kay Shirley of Snell Community, MS; three grandchildren, Bethany Gessner (Harris), Sarah Barnett (Nathan), Dr. Seth Green (Dr. Miranda); four great grandchildren, Grant Gessner, Samuel Gessner, Silas Barnett, and Solomon Barnett, all of Huntsville, AL; a host of nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for Mrs. Green will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Roger Douglas officiating. Interment will be in Shubuta Cemetery in Clarke County, MS.
