Mr. William "Gap" West, 75, of Buckatunna, MS passed from this life Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, MS. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Monday, December 13, 1948, to the late Aden and Elvis West. He was a member of Red Creek Church of God. He retired as a diesel mechanic at Greenfield Transportation in Waynesboro, MS. Gap was known all over for making some of the best cane syrup with his brothers and friends. He enjoyed spending time with everyone setting around talking and his late wife and daughter providing breakfast. He also enjoyed eating and making hot biscuits and fresh syrup. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and fishing.

Mr. West is preceded in death by his wife, Susie West; parents, Aden and Elvis West; three brothers, Selwin West, Aden Nathaniel "Pop" West, Grover Gene West. He is survived by his loving, devoted, and spoiled daughter, Ashley Carr (Joseph) of Buckatunna, MS; three brothers, Sylvester West of Richton, MS, Sol Allen West (Lisa), Douglas Edward West (Betty); sister, Sylvia Jean Sturdivant; three grandchildren, Kaleb Carr, Zachary "Jack" Carr, and Annah Grace Carr, all of Buckatunna, MS; a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. West will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Steve Watts officiating. Interment will be in Red Creek Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
