Mr. Walter Benton Sumrall, 91, of Buckatunna, MS passed from this life Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Buckatunna on Friday, June 16, 1933 to Thomas Fletcher Sumrall and Eula Faith Singley Sumrall. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. He retired as a Shift Operator at Scott Paper Company.

Mr. Sumrall is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Fletcher Sumrall; mother, Eula Faith Singley Sumrall; son, Randy Sumrall; daughter, Elaine Taylor; four brothers, Henry Sumrall, Samuel Sumrall, Jimmy Sumrall, Rodney Sumrall; five sisters, Hilda Johnson, Theola Busby, Ruby Meyer, Caroline Jones, Helen Sumrall. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Dobson Sumrall, Buckatunna, MS; daughter, Shirley Young (Glen); eight grandchildren, Kathy Pittman, Israel Thames, Tezzra Cook, Jeremy Young, Jonathon Young (Sarah), Jared Young (Staci), Andy Sumrall, Miranda Hair (Kenneth); a host of great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Sumrall will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Steve Smith officiating.
