Mr. Vol Newsome, 81, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Thursday, June 29, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Monday, September 8, 1941 to the late W. E. and Willie Mae Newsome. He was a member of Victory Assembly of God Church. He retired as a mechanic at Cooley Motor Company. Mr. Newsome is preceded in death by his parents, W. E. and Willie Mae Newsome; special nephew, Robert Donald Walker; seven brothers, John H. Newsome, Paul Newsome, Austin Newsome, Arthur Newsome, Billy Joe Newsome, Woody Newsome, Harold Newsome; three sisters, Miller Kelley, Betty Perry, Loretta Mizell; great grandson, Timber Sanderson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annie Laura Newsome; two son, Vol Edward Newsome (Tammy), Arthur Ray Newsome (Sabrina), all of Waynesboro, MS; two daughters, Retha Cooper (J. W.) of Richton, MS, Terena Sanderson (Kendall) of Waynesboro, MS; special nephew, Wendell Scott Pardue of Millry, AL; sister, Juanese Clark of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Heather Roney (Travis), Hannah Newsome, Chancellor Newsome, Morgan Shows (Austin), Mallorie Cooper, Dr. Dallas Moseley (Taylor), Kyle Sanderson (Alexis), Hunter Sanderson; nine great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Lula Beasley. Visitation for Mr. Newsome will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Reggie Manning and Rev. Barry Long officiating. Interment will be in Shows Cemetery in Strengthford, MS.
