Ms. Velma Hollingshead, 82, of Chatom, AL passed from this life Friday, March 17, 2023 at Washington County Hospital in Chatom, AL. She was born in Millry, AL on Friday, March 22, 1940 to the late Earnest Lyman and Viola Hollingshead. She was a member of Red Creek Church of God. Ms. Hollingshead is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Lyman and Viola Hollingshead; five brothers, Daniel Hollinghead, Earnest Hollinghead, Jr., Fred Hollinghead, Harold Hollinghead, James Hollingshead; three sisters, Ena Pearl Dearmon, Sue West, Betty Smith. She is survived by two sisters, Dollie Blount of Waynesboro, MS, Diane Smith (Billy) of Millry, AL; a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Ms. Hollingshead will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 19, 2023 with a lie in state from 1:00 PM to 2:00 Pm Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Red Creek Church of God in Wayne County, MS with Rev. Steve Watts, Rev. Ray Odom, and Rev. Shawn Hales officiating. Interment will be in Sandridge Cemetery in Millry, AL. Pallbearers are Ross Barnett, Hoss Sanderson, Kaleb Carr, Joseph Carr, Ted Newsome, and Carldon Dearmon. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Dearmon and Zach Carr.
