Mrs. Shirley Ann Tate-Whigham, 75, of Millry, AL passed from this life Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile, AL surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Millry, AL on Wednesday, November 17, 1948, to the late James Pearson Waite and Mamie Lee Waite. She was a member of Independent Community Church. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed planting her garden's flowers and watching them grow and bloom. She will always be remembered by her family as the mother and grandmother with a heart of gold that loved everyone with her whole heart, body, and soul. Mrs. Shirley sang her favorite song You Are My Sunshine to her children as babies, but little did she know she was the sunshine of their lives. Mrs. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, James Pearson Waite and Mamie Lee Waite; four brothers, James Lee Waite, Norman Ray Waite, J. B. Waite, Johnny Waite; sister, Mary Beth Waite. She is survived by her four daughters, Charlotte Hooper (Carl), Robin Smith (Audrey), both of Millry, AL, Rachel Gibson (Joey) of Silas, AL, Jurelleen Chapman Stevens of Millry, AL; two brothers, Truman Waite, Mike Waite; three sisters, Ciddie Lee Jones, Joyce Koen, Edna Beesley, all of Millry, AL; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family; special friend, Henry James of Silas, AL. Visitation for Mrs. Shirley will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Monday, March 18, 2024, at Independent Community Church in Millry, AL. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 18, 2024, at Independent Community Church in Millry, AL with Rev. Jim Koen and Rev. Ray Odom officiating. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Millry, AL.
