Mr. Sam C. Kennedy, Jr., 93, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Sunday, November 16, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Union, MS on Sunday, August 21, 1932, to the late Samuel Curtis, Sr. and Rebecca Smith Kennedy.

After his birth, his family moved to State Line, MS, where he lived for many years before moving to Waynesboro. He was a member of Waynesboro First Methodist. He enjoyed working outdoors in the timber and oil industry. Sam will always be remembered by family and friends for his many stories and knowledge of Wayne County. He served as a Director of First State Bank, member of Wayne General Hospital Board, Waynesboro Economic Council, and the Waynesboro Public Library Board.

Mr. Kennedy is preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Jane Kennedy and his parents. He is survived by his son, S. C. "Kurt" Kennedy, III (Elisa); daughter, Kay Kennedy Kelly (Jerry), both of Mobile, AL; companion, Claire "Sissie" Gray of Waynesboro, MS; two grandsons, Sean Patrick Kelly (Sarah) of Mobile, AL and Michael Scott Kelly (Danielle) of Birmingham, AL; two granddaughters, Corinne Rebecca Kennedy of Starkville, MS and Christine Kennedy Weakley (Ryan) of Pensacola, FL; great grandson, Liam Patrick Kelly of Mobile, AL; great granddaughter, Harper Kennedy Weakley of Pensacola, FL.

Visitation for Mr. Kennedy will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Waynesboro First Methodist in Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Waynesboro First Methodist in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be in Waynesboro Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
