Mr. Robert Pitts, 95, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home in Waynesboro, MS. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Sunday, March 27, 1927 to the late Earl Pitts, Sr. and Floye T. (Bodie) Pitts. Mr. Pitts served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of West Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was retired as a Motorman in the Oil Field. Mr. Pitts is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Pitts, Sr. and Floye T. Pitts; mother of children, Barbara Jeanette Pitts; four brothers, Tommie Pitts, R. C. Pitts, J. C. Pitts, Ralph Pitts; three sisters, Dorothy Nell Norton, Bonnie Yvonne Cooley, Edna Earl Odom; seven half-brothers, Charlie Pitts, Clarence Pitts, Ottis "Toby" Pitts, Homer "Jack" Pitts, K. C. Pitts, Howard Pitts, J. Willard Pitts; half-sister, Verda Long. He is survived by his four sons, Lynn Pitts (Lelia) of Shubuta MS, John Pitts of Jackson, MS, Robin Pitts, Ronald Pitts, both of Birmingham, AL; brother, Earl Pitts of Waynesboro, MS; three sisters, Joyce Vinson Pitts of Mobile, AL, Mary Ann Lovelace, Bobbie Gail Williams, both of Waynesboro, MS; three grandchildren, Deidra Lynn Baylis (James "Bud") of Ellisville, MS, Robert Blake Pitts of Shubuta, MS, Parker Pitts of Birmingham, AL; two great grandsons, Cole Vaughn, Christian Baylis; four great-great grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Pitts will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 9, 2022 with a one hour lie-in-state prior to funeral services at West Shady Grove Baptist Church, 18 West Shady Grove Church Road, Waynesboro, MS 39367 with Rev. Stephen Smith, Bro. Earl Pitts, and Rev. Mike Street officiating. Interment will be in West Shady Grove Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
