Robert "Andy"
Cochran
February 5, 1952 – February 22, 2025
Mr. Robert "Andy" Cochran, 73, of Shubuta, MS passed from this life Saturday, February 22, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Tuesday, February 5, 1952, to the late Ervin Cochran and Carolyn Gatlin Palmer. He retired from M & M Transportations in Human Resources.
Andy was raised by his maternal grandparents, M.S. and Lotis Gatlin. Andy met the love his life Genny in 1963 when her family moved to Waynesboro. He started liking Genny immediately and always told her that he would marry her one day. They married on August 21, 1971, and began their family together. Two of the proudest moments in his life were when their two sons were born Rob and Jamie. Andy spent a lot of time with his boys and usually several of their friends. Has was a wonderful Daddy. Andy loved his grandsons Caden and Connors, he was proud to be their Papa. They became the light of his life.
Andy worked with his father-in-law, James Walker, in the transportation business for many years, before becoming disabled in 1999. He wanted something useful to do, so he found an enjoyment in "working" with a group of men at Hephzibah Baptist Church. Although he could not help much with building, he enjoyed the fellowship with the other men. He called several churches in Clarke County to see if they had a brotherhood for the men, but many churches didn't. He started the Clarke County Christian Brotherhood in 2003, they met once a month at different churches throughout the county. The men always had a speaker and good food. Men and Women from the Brotherhood went to Bay St. Louis, MS after Hurricane Katrina and helped with the recovery efforts. They fixed Thanksgiving meals and were always working on different projects to help others in need. In 2018 because of bad health, Andy was no longer able to lead the organization any longer.
Andy is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Palmer; father, Ervin Cochran; sister, Deborah Acy. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Geneva "Genny" Cochran of Shubuta, MS; two sons, Rob Cochran (Kana) of Sumrall, MS and Jamie Cochran (April) of Shubuta, MS; three brothers, Sandy Cochran (Jessica) of Laurel, MS, Sammy Cochran, and Mike Palmer of Huntsville, AL; sister, Rhonda Alaniz of Kingsland, GA; two grandchildren, Caden Cochran and Connors Cochran both of Sumrall, MS.
