Mr. Phillip Smith, 89, of Leakesville, MS passed from this life Monday, February 5, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Coffeeville, AL on Saturday, June 23, 1934, to the late Slater John Smith and Minnie Pearl Deas Smith. He was a member of West Bend Baptist Church in Coffeeville, AL but attended Providence Methodist Church in State Line, MS. He was retired as owner and operator of S & S Motors.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Smith; parents, Slater John Smith and Minnie Pearl Deas Smith; son, Johnny Smith; two brothers, Buddy Smith, Leon Smith; two great grandchildren, Stash Phillips, Brylee Ethridge. He is survived by his son, Eric Smith (Shaunda) of State Line, MS; daughter, Phyllis Smith Hearn of Saraland, AL; three sisters, Janiece Taylor of Coffeeville, AL, Maurice Anderson of Epworth, GA, Betty Kirkland of Mobile, AL; 12 grandchildren, April Denmark, Rachel Odell, Sheena Harvison, Skyler Willers, Summer Smith, Shane Smith, Jason Kittrell, Amanda Breland, Johnny Seabrook, Taylor Londy, Hannah Hearn, and Jackson Hearn; a host of great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Providence Cemetery in State Line, MS with Rev. Jimmie Butts officiating. Interment will be in Providence Cemetery in State Line, MS.
