Gaye Nuckols, 81, of Powhatan, VA passed from this life Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Powhatan, VA. She was born in Waynesboro, MS on Wednesday, June 14, 1944, to the late Otis and Clara Lou Pitts. She retired as an Assistant Manager at Walmart. Gaye will always be remembered for the love she had for her family, “she was at her happiest attending her grandkids events and being a part of her children's lives."

   Gaye is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Clara Lou Pitts; two Sisters-In-Law, Charlotte Odom Pitts and Debbie Holifield Pitts; Brother-In-Law, Paul Windham. She is survived by her two sons, Shon Nuckols (Shannon) and Christopher Nuckols (Lori), all of Powhatan, VA; six grandchildren, Julia, Emily, Cynthia, Helena, Mckayla, and Jace; four sisters, Patsy Easley (James H.) of Vardaman, MS, Jeanette Collins (George) of Heidelberg, MS, Cheryl Windham of Greenville, NC, and Ginger Cooksey of Waynesboro, MS; four brothers, Sammy Pitts of Petal, MS, Toby Pitts (Nancy) of Laurel, MS, Dexter Pitts (Elaine), and Rusty Pitts (Robbie), all of Waynesboro, MS; 22 nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for Gaye will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2026, at West Shady Grove Baptist Church in Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 14, 2026, at West Shady Grove Baptist Church in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Stephen Smith officiating. Interment will be in West Shady Grove Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
