MSgt Stephen Daniel Doby, 48, of Crowley, TX passed from this life Thursday, July 29, 2021 in Holt, MO. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Saturday, December 23, 1972 to Gary Daniel "Dan" Doby and Martha Jent Doby.

MSgt Doby served in the United States Marine Corps, entering in April 1991 and retiring in Nov 2012 with 21 years of service. He was a Veteran of the Iraq War serving two tours in Iraq. During his enlistment, he performed the job of Field Artillery Fire Controlman for 7 years, Field Artillery Operations Man for 14 years. He received many awards and medals throughout his career, some of which include Good Conduct Medal (7th award), NATO Medal – Yugoslavia Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5th award), National Service Defense Medal (2nd award), Armed Forces Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5th award), Navy Unit Commendation (2 award), Joint Meritorious Unit award, Meritorious Service Medal.

MSgt Doby served his country well and was proud to be a Marine. Through the years he developed close friendships with those he served with. He loved all things motorcycles. He loved to ride and enjoyed spending time with the brothers and sisters he rode with.

But most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Doby, Crowley, TX; father, Dan Doby and mother, Martha Jent Doby. Waynesboro, MS; two daughters, LaShayla McDonald (Travis), Jessica Freeman (Ethan), Waynesboro, MS; three brothers, Joseph Mark Doby (Krystal), Jacksonville, NC, Philip Andrew Doby, Waynesboro, MS, James Adam Doby, Waynesboro, MS; five grandchildren, T. J. McDonald, Serenity McDonald, Trey McDonald, Shawn McDonald, Jon Daniel Freeman.

Visitation for Msgt Doby will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery in Wayne County, MS. Pallbearers are Stoney Daniel, Brian Russell, Larry Maples, Adam Arnett, Donnie Parmer, and Clark Daniel.
