Mrs. Mildred Rachel Gordon Cooper, 88, of Buckatunna, MS passed from this life Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro, MS. She was born in Buckatunna, MS on Friday, September 18, 1936, to the late Jesse Gordon and Martha Britton Gordon. She was a faithful member of Buckatunna First Baptist Church. She retired as a Clerk at Bonner Drugs.

Mrs. Cooper is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Austin Cooper; parents, Jesse and Martha Britton Gordon; Son-In-Law, Delton Smith; three brothers, J. C. Gordon, Jr., Douise Gordon, and Britton Gordon; three sisters, Marian Mashburn, Dorothy Barkley, and Louise Gordon. She is survived by her daughter, Mildred Jean Cooper Smith of Buckatunna, MS; two grandsons, Justin Cooper Smith (Jessica) of Waynesboro, MS and Jared Austin Smith (Erica) of Buckatunna, MS; four great grandchildren, Austin Grant Smith, Remington Ty Smith, Dallas Levi Smith, and Montana Austyn Smith; Sister-In-Law, Etta Lee Gordon of Waynesboro, MS; a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Cooper will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive in Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 12, 2025, with a lie-in-state from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Buckatunna First Baptist Church in Buckatunna, MS with Dr. Terry Williams officiating. Interment will be in Buckatunna Baptist Cemetery in Buckatunna, MS.
