Mrs. Merlene "Granny" Williams, 92, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Saturday, February 12, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wayne County, MS on Sunday, November 24, 1929 to Tom and Ollie Mae Nicholson. Mrs. Merlene is preceded in death by her husband, B. W. Williams; birth parents, Tom and Ollie Mae Nicholson; adoptive parents, Sol and Fannie Louise West; son, David Robertson; four brothers, Joe Nicholson, Allen Nicholson, Earl Nicholson, Mack Nicholson; three sisters, Ruby Watson, Flossie Jordan, Myranda Waller. She is survived by her son, Mark Williams (John), Gulfport, MS; six daughters, Shirley McNeese (Gerald), Prentiss, MS, Wilda Williamson (Royce), Sumrall, MS, Caffey Moree (Tommy), Sumrall, MS, Mildred Nolting (Mark), Columbia, MS, Betty McInnis (Mike), Prentiss, MS, Debbie Barnette (Lynn), Fairford, AL; step son, John Williams, Waynesboro, MS; two step daughters, Kathy Palmer (Rudy), Waynesboro, MS, Lisa Courtney (Kyle), New Augusta, MS; four sisters, Maudie Lee Nicholson, Waynesboro, MS, Carazade Best, Richton, MS, Margaret Freeman, Sand Hill, MS, Tommie Lee Watson, New Orleans, LA; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Merlene will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS 39367. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Reed Houston and Rev. David Tennyson officiating. Interment will be in Hollis Creek Cemetery in Wayne County, MS. Pallbearers are Michael Williamson, Clayton Moree, Bobby Moree, Kevin Raynes, Scottie Moree, and Tim Lee. Honorary Pallbearer is Michael Beard.
