Mr. Melvin Wayne McLain, 52, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Thursday, April 20, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, friends, and best girl Diva. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Monday, March 1, 1971 to Lloyd "Bud" McLain and Rebecca Pacey. He had a 30 plus year career in the oil field that ended as an OIM with Ensco and later retired as a self-employed farmer. He loved the outdoors and would rather be on a tractor or in a cow pasture than any other place. Melvin is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd "Bud" McLain; son, Justin McLain; brother, Lloyd McLain; grandson, Ryder Dearman; stepfather, Gene Pacey. He is survived by his loving mother, Rebecca Pacey of Waynesboro, MS; son, Ben McLain; two daughters, Courtney McLain, both of Laurel, MS, Morgan Dearman (Josh), Waynesboro, MS; two sisters, Mechele Moffett (Billy), Naomi Atkinson (John), all of Waynesboro, MS; two granddaughters, Tinley and Piper Dearman; lifelong best friend and cousin, Jeffery Smith of Waynesboro, MS. Visitation for Melvin will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 21, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Ray Newsome officiating. Interment will be in McLain Chapel Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
