Mrs. Mary Louise James, 86, of State Line, MS passed from this life Friday, February 28, 2025, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born in Wayne County, MS on Wednesday, April 6, 1938, to the late Mageolean and Gaines Patrick Hinton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chicora. She retired as bookkeeper for Wayne County School Board working in both Buckatunna and Clara Schools.

Mrs. James is preceded in death by her husband, Edward James; parents, Mageolean and Gaines Patrick Hinton. She is survived by her son, Douglas James (Stacey) of Laurel, MS; two daughters, Debbie Hudson (David) of State Line, MS and Detria Little of Petal, MS; seven grandchildren, Tashia White (Harold), Jeremy Hudson (Betsy), Stasia Setliff (Charlie), Andrew Little (Sarah), Patrick James (Lauren), Cameron James (Courtney), and Lindsey James; a host of great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. James will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM with a lie-in-state from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Chicora First Baptist Church in Chicora, MS with Rev. Mitchell Smith and Rev. Michael Beckwith officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove/Mason Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
