Larred Porter Gandy, 20, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in Arkansas. He was born in Meridian, MS on Thursday, June 24, 2004, to Frank and Melissa Gandy. He worked as a Welder at Future Fuel in Batesville, AR. Porter is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sue Bell; uncle, Edward Gandy. He is survived by his parents, Frank and Melissa Gandy of Waynesboro, MS; fiancée, Dixie Barnes of Melbourne, AR; sister, Madison Gandy; paternal grandparents, Larry and Pat Gandy, all of Waynesboro, MS; nephew, Kadyn Peabody; uncle, Ben Gandy (Emily) of Waynesboro, MS; two aunts, Linda Cox (Chris) of Hamilton, AL, Brenda Benefield (Paul) of Tuscaloosa, AL; a host of cousins, friends, and other relatives. Porter attended Hebron United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, MS. He dearly loved his fiancée Dixie, his family, friends and his dogs Freckles and Chunk. He never met a stranger and added a ray of sunshine to everyone's life that he touched. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He had a deep passion for welding and loved his welding family. Visitation for Mr. Gandy will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 21, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Nick Birmingham and Rev. Dixie Holder-Cummings officiating. Interment will be in Hebron Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS. Honorary Pallbearers are Kadin Johnston, Colin Trigg, Jaren Long, Gavin Floyd, Ayden Barnes, Sidney Bell, and The Pearl River Crew. In lieu of flowers the family has set up a welding scholarship fund to be used at Arkansas Elite Welding Academy in memory of Porter. All donations will go to the "Porter Gandy Memorial Welding Fund" at First State Bank, PO Box 506, Waynesboro, MS 39367 to help others pursue their dream of becoming a welder.
