L. B. Odom's Obituary

Mr. L. B. Odom, 100, of Matherville, MS passed from this life Friday, November 8, 2024 at Wayne General Hospital. He was born in Matherville on Saturday, May 24, 1924 to William "Willie" Thomas Odom and Ada Cooley Odom. He was a member and Elder of Geneva Presbyterian Church. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of World War II serving 27 months with Combat Engineers. He was a self-employed Farmer at Green Hill Farms and was known for raising Polled Hereford bulls. Mr. Odom also established the Matherville Park. Mr. Odom is preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Odom; mother, Ada Cooley Odom; two brothers, Loys Odom; Laudric Odom; sister, Maysel Harrison. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Billie Bailey Odom, Matherville, MS; two sons, Sanford Odom (Carolyn), Waynesboro, MS, Brad Odom (Marsha), Quitman, MS; four grandchildren, Grant Odom, Kennon Odom, Kylie Odom, Isabella Burkett (Hunter); great grandchild, Sadie Burkett. Visitation for Mr. Odom will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Geneva Presbyterian Church, Matherville, MS. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Geneva Cemetery in Matherville, MS with Rev. Mike Ahlberg and Rev. Ben McLain officiating. Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery in Matherville, MS.
