Mr. Julius Lester Dearman, 74, of Millry, AL passed from this life Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile, AL. He was born in Wayne County, MS on Thursday, December 22, 1949 to Julius Dearman and Lettie V. Dearman.
He was drafted in 1969 and served in the United States Army as a Specialist E-5 Medic. Mr. Dearman retired as a Millwright at Georgia-Pacific and was affectionately known by his work friends as simply 'JD.' In his spare time he would often be found working in his garden. He loved music and enjoyed playing a variety of different guitars as well the piano. Mr. Dearman was a self-taught musician with a God given talent. He especially loved playing his steel guitar. Mr. Dearman was a faithful longtime member of the Red Creek Church of God. On Saturday evening you would often find him in his recliner surrounded by commentaries and notes as he spent many hours preparing for his Sunday school lesson for the next morning. Mr. Dearman taught the adult Sunday school class for many years. His passion for and love of the Bible was evident in every lesson he taught.
Mr. Dearman is preceded in death by his father, Julius Dearman; mother, Lettie V. Dearman; brother, Jarvis Dearman; sister, Lettie Elwanda Dearman. He is survived by his wife, Kathie Dearman, Millry, AL; two sons, Marty Dearman, Millry, AL, Marcus Dearman (Kyla), Clara, MS; two daughters, Mesilla Jenkins (Chad), Opp, AL; Mona Hales (Shawn), Millry, AL; two brothers, Dean Dearman, Waynesboro, MS, Ken Dearman, Sandersville, MS; one sister, Jillanna Mitchell, Buckatunna, MS; five grandchildren, Chloe Jenkins, Morgan Jenkins, Madison Hales, Lauren Hales, Benjamin Hales.
Visitation for Mr. Dearman will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Red Creek Church of God, Wayne County, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Red Creek Church of God with Rev. Steve Watts, Rev. Shawn Hales, and Rev. Jake Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Red Creek Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
