Mr. Johnny Singler Burgess, 79, of Richton, MS passed from this life Thursday, February 29, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Waynesboro on Friday, May 19, 1944 to John A. Burgess and Hydia Burgess. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. He worked as a Welder at Ingalls Shipyard. Mr. Burgess is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Burgess; father, John A. Burgess; mother, Hydia Burgess; grandson, Kody Edwards. He is survived by his three sons, John Wesley Burgess, Slidell, LA, Chris Burgess, Hattiesburg, MS, Mark Burgess, Buckatunna, MS; daughter, Wendy Edwards, Wagarville, AL; four grandchildren, Matthew Burgess, William Burgess, Trace Edwards, Audri Anna Edwards. Visitation for Mr. Burgess will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Norman Nowell and Rev. Anthony O'Neal officiating. Interment will be in Dailey Cemetery in Chicora, MS. Pallbearers are Kelly Williams, Charlie Dailey, Muril Walley, Timothy Sullivan, Justin Edwards, and Glen Skipper.
