Mr. John Paul Rigney, 87, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life Monday, February 10, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Tuesday, July 6, 1937, to the late Ides V. and Luther R. Rigney. He was a member of Buckatunna Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Rigney retired after 32 years as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a key member in founding and operating the Buckatunna Water Works Association. He will always be remembered for loving his girls, Sons-In-Law, and grandchildren. Mr. Rigney is preceded in death by his wife, Aline Burgess Rigney; parents, Ides V. and Luther R. Rigney; daughter, Sherline Rigney; two brothers, Ungay Rigney and David Rigney; three sisters, Voncile Odom, Rebecca Giles, and Lena Pearl Anderson. He is survived by two daughters, Karen Kelley (Tommy), and Tamara Roach (Larry), both of Waynesboro, MS; two brothers, C. J. Rigney of Waynesboro, MS and L. V. Rigney (Darlene) of Blytheville, AR; sister, Glenda Hollinghead (Fred) of Chicora, MS; two granddaughters, Jona Stevens (Corey) of Waynesboro, MS and Megan Hancock (Corey) of Starkville, MS; grandson, Toby Roach (Kalin) of Fairhope, AL; three great grandchildren, Reese, Brantley, and Millie Thomas. A Graveside Service for Mr. Rigney will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Buckatunna, MS with Rev. Larry Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Buckatunna, MS.
