Mr. Joe N. Vines, 87, of Waynesboro, MS passed peacefully from this life Friday, February 28, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Dodson, LA on Friday, September 17, 1937, to the late Vera and Earnest N. Vines. He retired as a self-employed millwright/engineer, building and restoring sawmills all over the world. He served in the United States Army National Guard.
Mr. Vines is preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Earnest N. Vines; son, Joe Edwin Vines; brother, Robert Vines; sister, Mona Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Iddings Vines of Waynesboro, MS; son, Michael Lynn Vines of Georgia; daughter, Jodi Vines of Waynesboro, MS; three step daughters, Tisha Schnider (Ken), Lila Kelley (Chris) both of Waynesboro, MS, and Alysia Merritt (Kenneth) of Sand Hill, MS; eight grandchildren, Tyler Brewer (Mason), Kayla May, Payton Smith, Olivia Kelley, Maggie Kelley, John May, Shelby Smith, and Lauren Schneider; great grandchild, Ellie Brewer; brother, Claude Vines (Mitzi) of Tennessee; sister, Tammy Procell (David) of Louisiana.
Visitation for Mr. Vines will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, Monday, March 3, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2025, at Winchester Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Paul Harris officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS.
