Mr. Joe H. "J-Byrd" Crager, 84, of State Line, MS passed from this life Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL. He was born in Waynesboro, MS on Friday, September 9, 1938. Mr. Crager served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of Vietnam. He attended State Line First Baptist Church. He was retired as a maintenance mechanic at Ciba-Geigy Corporation in McIntosh, AL. Mr. Crager is preceded in death by his mother, Mittie Revette; sister, Ida Pearl Clark. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia Lynn Crager of State Line, MS; son, Joseph Daniel Crager (Toni) of Navarre, FL; daughter, Rachael Lynn Crager Baarstad (Jesse) of Germantown, OH; four grandchildren, Chace Hooper, Aiden Henry Crager, Nathan Baarstad, Lillie Hope Baarstad. Visitation for Mr. Crager will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 26, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Michael Stevenson officiating. Interment will be in Chason Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
