Mrs. Joan (McRae) Kittrell, 92, of Laurel, MS passed from this life on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home in Waynesboro, MS. She was born in Waynesboro, MS on Wednesday, November 9, 1932, to the late Grace Dyess and Arlander McRae.

After completing school in Waynesboro, she began her banking career at First National Bank in Meridian, MS.   That bank happened to be where she met her future husband while he was home on leave from the Navy.

Jackson, MS eventually became their home, and she worked for Deposit Guaranty National Bank for many years at their main office.   She loved helping customers from all walks of life and working near the state capitol.   Her dedication to her customers won her accolades for superior customer service throughout her career.

Laurel, MS became home after retirement, and Joan loved living closer to her siblings in Waynesboro and near her special granddaughter in Laurel.   She was an active member of Franklin Methodist Church and loved fellowshipping with and cooking for her beloved church family.   She would gladly whip up a tray of stuffed eggs, one of her famous sausage loaves, or a complete meal if needed.

Mrs. Kittrell is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Kittrell; parents, Grace Dyess and Arlander McRae; three brothers, Charles McRae, Pete McRae, and Billy Wayne McRae. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Cook (Ricky) of Ellisville, MS; brother - Jerry McRae (Joyce); sister, Janette Manning, both of Waynesboro, MS; two grandchildren, Beth Brown and Daniel Cook (Caitlynn), both of Laurel, MS; four great grandchildren, August Brown, Rylan Broome, Dani Kaye Cook, and Delilah Cook; Sister-In-Law, Alma Pearl McRae of Waynesboro, MS; a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Kittrell will be held Saturday, June 21st, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Waynesboro, MS.   Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery in Wayne County, MS.
