Mr. Jesse James, 69, of Millry, AL passed from this life Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Washington County, AL on Monday, February 13, 1956, to the late Leland Joseph James, Sr. and Thelma Maggie Louise James. He was a member of Cornerstone of Fruitdale. He worked as a self-employed farmer and carpenter. Mr. Jesse will always be remembered by his family for his love of hunting, fishing, talking to everyone, and spending time with his grandbabies.

Mr. James is preceded in death by his parents, Leland Joseph James, Sr. and Thelma Maggie Louise James; brother, Larry Edward "Ed" James, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Brenda B. James of Millry, AL; son, Jesse Andrew James (Lee Joyce) of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Melissa Cherry (Chris) of Waynesboro, MS; three brothers, Rev. Leland James, Jr. (Anne) of Chatom, AL, Douglas James, Sr. (Rona) of Butler, AL, and Jerry James (JoeAnn) of Laurel, MS; three sisters, Jo Ann McInnis (J.B.) of State Line, MS, Ethel Tate, and Katharine Sims, both of Millry, AL; three grandchildren, Zane Cherry, Lylah Cherry, and Brooks Cherry; a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. James will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Monday, February 9, 2026, at Copeland Assembly of God Church in Millry, AL. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 9, 2026, at Copeland Assembly of God Church in Millry, AL with Rev. Phillip Howard and Rev. Leland James, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Jones-Hill Cemetery in Millry, AL. Pallbearers are Doug James, Jonathan Bradley, Joseph Bradley, Matthew Beech, Ray Donald, and Roger Beech. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Whitcomb and Lamar Beech.
