Mr. Jeffery William "Pappy" Thornton, 63, of Fruitdale, AL passed from this life Monday, August 31, 2026, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in Mobile, AL. He was born in Chatom, AL on Sunday, March 3, 1963, to the late Simmie William Thornton and Vivian Pauline Autry. He was a member of Four Points Baptist Church. He retired from the hatchery at Marshall Durbin in Chatom, AL.

Mr. Thornton is preceded in death by his father, Simmie William Thornton; mother, Vivian Pauline Autry; brother, Michael Thornton; sister, Stella Thornton. He is survived by his brother, Joseph D. Thornton (Audrey) of Morris, AL; sister, Stephanie "Missy" Hare (Will) of Fruitdale, AL; half-sister, Janice Moss (Tom) of Chatom, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Thornton will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Four Points Baptist Church, 13007 Highway 45, Fruitdale, AL 36539. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Four Points Baptist Church in Fruitdale, AL with Rev. Billy Harris and Rev. Charles King officiating. Interment will be in Four Points Cemetery in Washington County, AL.
