Mr. James Gregory Tynes, 66, of Waynesboro, MS passed from this life on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born in New Orleans, LA on Friday, May 27, 1960, to Rev. Jamie Warren Tynes and Patsy Cliburn Tynes. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. Although he was a jack of all trades, he retired as a Safety Manager at Pilgrim Construction. Mr. Tynes is preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. Jamie Warren Tynes and Patsy Cliburn Tynes. He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Cochran Tynes of Waynesboro, MS; son, Barrett Austin Tynes (Robyn), of Foley, AL; daughter, Kayla Hoover (Cole), of Oxford, MS; brother, Marshall Scott Tynes (Angi), of Waynesboro, MS; and two grandchildren whom he absolutely adored, Garrett Reece Tynes and Sawyer Grace Tynes, along with a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Tynes will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro, MS following the services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mr. Tynes' name to the Gertrude C. Ford Hope Lodge, 2615 N.
