James Andrew Porter's Obituary

James Andrew Porter, of Waynesboro, Mississippi, passed away on August 2, 2024. He was born on December 12, 1926, in Laurel, Mississippi.

James served his country honorably as a veteran of World War II, where he developed a strong sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, he returned to Mississippi and became the owner/operator of Porter Water Well Drilling.

He was a member of the Waynesboro First Methodist Church for over sixty years. He found joy in his faith and fellowship with the congregation.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie McCaa Porter; his daughter, Jami McCaa Porter; his parents, David Newton Porter and Jimmie Helen Porter; and his sisters, Helen Elizabeth Porter and Sarah Lillian Cazier (Don).

He is survived by his son, David Joel Porter (Sabrina); his grandson, Dr David Andrew Porter (Lyn); and his three great-grandchildren, David Camp Porter, Mary Francis Porter, and Grady Ross Porter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wayne General Hospital Foundation in James's memory.
